So I was pretty excited that we were having a mild winter because I really don't like snow much. Well, I guess I don't mind it, I just don't like 7 months of snow. I figured the mild winter wasn't going to last and that we would get more snow but not all at once!!!! Holy Moly!!! For two days it snowed and the wind blew and blew. I mean blew!!! Steady 45mph winds with 70mph gusts. It was crazy. I'm not sure how much snow actually fell but the drifts of snow were huge. The first morning we couldn't get out of our subdivision. The drifts were way too big for any vehicle to drive through. Our neighbor tried but got stuck right out in front of our house. And even if she would have made it there was a couple more in the subdivision and one at the enterance that was 4 feet high. The snow plows were soo backed up they didn't get to our subdivision until 3:30pm. Blake drove the snowmobile into town to get some milk and eggs. Then the Teton Pass going to Jackson was closed for 40 hours straight because of 12 major avalaches and 20 minor ones. So Blake couldn't go to work for two days. Here are some pictures. The first one is of Kaden standing on the snow drift out our front door. It was well above our porch.
This is Blake and our neighbor shoveling and snow blowing our front walk way where Kaden was standing.
After they were done it was taller than Kaden!!
Now on to the driveway with our new snow blower that we had to buy because shoveling would have taken months with our 4 foot drifts in our entire driveway.
This is the snowmobile trailer that got buried!
Here is Kaden and I with our half snow blowed driveway. That is how high it was. And the snow blower was having a really hard time with the super heavy, heavy wet snow. It was super dense. We were chipping away with a shovel so the snow blower would work a little better. But after half the driveway we called it quits.
And called in the big guns!!! We had a friend that plows and he swung by to help us out.
Why didn't we do this first thing?!!!
Yea, that's what I'm talking about! Piece of cake!!
I didn't get pictures of us getting the trailer out but we hooked up to the truck and the snow was so heavy on that trailer the truck didn't even budge. So our friend put a chain from the truck to the tracker and with no hesitation pulled it right out.
Wow what crazy/ cool pictures! That a part of Idaho I was ok with leaving behind. That tractor made it look so easy! What a life saver!
